Winter Outreach in Whalley
February 28th was a beautiful sunny winter day. Though the sun was shining it was still very cold. Sheryl, Virginia and I stepped out to minister God’s love and compassion to the people living on the streets of Whalley. We met Daniella, Darren, Emily, Melissa, Michael and Benjamin. Names are important so we introduce ourselves and have conversations. The street fellowship time becomes meaningful as we listen to the thoughts and concerns of people who live on the streets and pray with anyone who would like to receive prayer.
On this outreach, with grateful thanks to a friend, we were able to give beautiful brand new winter jackets, winter pants, and our usual care packs with the Gospel of John, a chicken wrap, donut, and fruit, plus some care packs with socks, toques, thick scarfs, and other necessities.
Though it was a cold day, God’s love always warms the heart and we experienced His love and “God Moments” to us, even as we ministered to others. Not everyone is called to do street ministry and I never thought that the Lord will ask me to go but He did. The people I encounter have for sure enriched and brought meaning and purpose to my life in a way that I did not think possible. Street ministry is one area of our ministry and I am grateful and thankful as always for all our generous donors who are sending us to various mission fields. The harvest is indeed plenty! God bless you all.

The Rewards of a Trained Mind
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

We are born with a specific purpose and destiny determined by our heavenly Father. Our mission and goal in life are carefully, intentionally and lovingly planned. God has uniquely gifted us to fulfill our God given mission. It was written in heaven long before the foundation of the earth.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
During their visit, I was amazed to see how Spirit responded to cues and commands from my friend. She slid a treat into her hand and kept it a few feet away from his nose. Spirit looked at the treat but didn’t move, until she said “Yes”. How is it possible to train a puppy in that short a time? He is just 9 weeks and his training will continue for another 16 months before he is released to someone that needs his services.
As believers we rarely pay attention to renewing, training and disciplining our minds. We find it much easier to go to the gym and exercise our body rather than engage in the practice of mind renewal according to God’s Word. Yet, research has confirmed that most life issues, diseases and conflicts in relationships originate in our thought life.
Paul emphasizes the importance of mind renewal.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Unlike Spirit, we don’t have a training timeline. It is to be done daily, for life. Our mind renewal helper is the Holy Spirit. He puts within us a passion to serve Christ, and is willing to partner with us on our mind renewal journey, however the commitment and willingness to show up daily for training is up to us. The stronger the passion for our mission in life, the higher the resistance to temptation.
Something as simple as turning away from unhealthy food, waking up early in the morning without hitting the snooze button ten times, reducing time spent on social media, exercising and learning to say ‘no’ to things that steal our time, requires discipline. Whatever fills our mind will eventually show up in our words, behavior and lifestyles.
Serving the Lord doesn’t mean we have to give up our personality, hobbies, and dreams. When you obey the Lord fully, He will tie it all in so your dreams align with His will for you.
Proverbs 22:6 encourages us to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.
It is never too late to retrain and rewire your brain by creating new habits in your thought life. Examine your focus in life, against the light of God’s Word. With God all things are possible.
The rewards of a trained, disciplined and renewed mind is a life of peace, power and prosperity.

Ministry at the Senior Home in Delta
On February 21st we visited the Senior’s Home and sang for them. Many joined in the sing-a-long with clapping. We recognised that they look forward to our visits, the prayer time and conversations we have with them. As Easter approaches, we decided to prepare 40 care packs to give the 40 residents who occupy the Ivy Lane section in this facility.
The staff informed us that they need:
- Socks
- Boxes of Kleenex
- Shampoo
- Tooth brushes
- Tooth paste
- Hand cream
We will prepare these care packages and take them with us for the April visit. If you would like to participate in giving to the seniors, you could etransfer to the ministry soundofthelordmission@gmail.com with a note stating it is for the Senior Home Easter Care Packs and we will do the purchasing by the first week of April. Thank you.
We love visiting with the residents of this facility and are looking forward to going monthly. Please pray for the residents. Some know the Lord and some, not yet. It was Sheryl, Opal and Rochelle who went but everyone who has donated, pray and help in numerous ways are very much a part of this ministry. We thank God for you!
