God’s Love Is Eternal & Unconditional

John 3:16

Last week we celebrated Valentine’s Day which is ‘supposed’ to be the most romantic day in the calendar year. When people talk about Valentine’s Day thoughts of love and romance comes to mind.

Then there is another kind of higher love. Over 2000 years ago, God did something to tell the world that He loves us. It cost Him His only begotten son, Jesus. It was a decision borne of sacrificial, pure, unfathomable, unconditional love from above.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Thankfully His love pursues us even today.

But then He said this, in John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love one to another.

1 John 3 : 11
For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Is it even possible to love others the way God loves us? Yes, otherwise He would not have commanded us to do the same. It’s a commandment and not something to be done if we feel like it.  This is where we all fall short. We have reduced love to an emotion, a feeling. The world narrative pushes us to do what we ‘feel’ is right. Our emotions rule our actions. The God kind of love is a choice we make to love without any conditions.

It’s easy to show love and affection to those that return those affections. But God wants us to go one step further and love the unlovable in our lives.

Luke 6:32
32 But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

If there is someone in your life right now that you find hard to love or whose love you crave but it’s not reciprocated, don’t give up yet. Go before God and ask for wisdom to understand the ‘why’ it’s that way, and the ‘how’ to change the situation.

Above all, remember that God’s love for you is steadfast, sure, unfailing and His love language is splashed across the Word in every book of the Bible. If that wasn’t enough, just to be sure you understand the depth of His love, He sent His Spirit who lives in you, to remind you at every turn.

We all have a Valentine. You don’t have to be married, or be in a romantic relationship. If you believe on the Lord Jesus and call Him your Lord, then you have a Valentine. Jesus is the lover of your soul. Because the Word tells us;

  • He thinks many good thoughts about you.

Psalm 139:17-1817 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

  • Your name is engraved on the palm of His hand.

Isaiah 49:16
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me.

Nobody can and will love you like Jesus does. Reach forward this year and let go of things in your life that you know, are keeping you bound to the past. The best is now, don’t miss what God is doing now.

Let me end on a merry note…….. !!

What did the love-obsessed candle say when it was lit?
“I found the perfect match!”
Who always has a date on Valentine’s Day?
A calendar
What do you call a happy couple who first met via Twitter? “Tweethearts.”
Be blessed!

As we step out in faith when the Lord directs us, then He will show creative ways to share the Word and minister the Gospel. We are so thankful for what the Lord is accomplishing through Sound of the Lord Mission. We are a small team in terms of ‘boots on the ground’ but when God is in it, then things happen, miraculous supernatural things happen.

We are seeing exciting, adventurous and amazing opportunities to sow the Word, to bring the love and compassion of Jesus into the lives of people who are hurting and desperately in need of hope.

Thank you for partnering with us to bring in the harvest for the Lord.

In 1 John 4: 9 & 10 it is written

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Your participation is welcome and appreciated.

God bless you all.

With joy,
