Extraordinary, Unusual, Various Miracles
In 2 Kings 4:43-44 we see a similar miracle where Elisha through the Lord’s goodness fed 100 men with 20 loaves of barley bread. “
43 “How can I set this before a hundred men?” his servant asked.
But Elisha answered, “Give it to the people to eat. For this is what the Lord says: ‘They will eat and have some left over.’” 44 Then he set it before them, and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of the Lord.

As I reflect on the little boy who offered his five loaves and two fish, I am deeply moved by his selflessness. In a world that often asks, “What’s in it for me?” this boy had a refreshing perspective. He willingly gave what little he had, trusting it could make a difference. This challenges me to examine my own contributions. Am I holding back, worried about my own needs? Or am I willing to step out in faith, believing that God can multiply my modest offerings into something miraculous?
The disciples’ response resonates with me as well. Their instinct to send the crowds away mirrors my tendency to focus on limitations. How often do I find myself in situations where my resources feel insufficient – financially, emotionally, or spiritually? In those moments, faith can seem elusive. Yet, this miracle reminds me that God’s resources aren’t bound by my understanding. He is capable of extraordinary provision, even when my circumstances suggest otherwise.
The parallels drawn from the Old Testament, particularly the miraculous provision in 2 Kings and the manna in Exodus, highlight a continuous theme – God is always active in providing for His people. This reinforces my understanding that I am part of a larger narrative, where God’s faithfulness is woven throughout history.
As I enter 2025, I feel a stirring in my spirit to embrace these lessons more fully. The invitation to participate in God’s work is both humbling and exhilarating. Jesus didn’t need the boy’s food to perform a miracle; He chose to involve the boy and the crowd in the process. This speaks volumes about my role in God’s plan. What do I have in my hands today? What small gifts or talents can I offer to be part of something bigger?
In moments of doubt, particularly during this economic recession when my bank statement reflects a challenging reality, I will remind myself to look at God’s unlimited resources. I have hope and faith. His ability to provide far exceeds my understanding. As I pray and seek His guidance, I want to cultivate a heart that believes in His miraculous power.
Ultimately, this miracle is not just a historical event; it’s an invitation to trust, to give, and to believe in the impossible. May I, like the little boy, find the courage to offer what I have, knowing that in God’s hands, it can become something extraordinary.
Thank you, Rochelle, for your inspiration!
In gratitude

Is Your Normal Really Normal?
My physiotherapist called out as I was walking out of her clinic. A sore back and shoulder had prompted yet another visit to see her. This time I was determined to follow her advice, and over the next few days, tried really hard to adjust my posture. Shoulders back, no slouching, sit straight. Apparently poor posture was the culprit and what had evolved into ‘my normal’ stance over the years, was not normal.
I was taken aback to see how easily and unconsciously I slipped into my normal. In fact, to correct my posture and stand the proper way caused me added discomfort because over the years my muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves had to adapt and accommodate my poor posture. The right posture to me felt abnormal. I had to ‘unlearn’ what I was used to doing.
This can easily happen with our spiritual posture. We may have embraced erroneous doctrines and beliefs over the years that have given us a spiritual slouch. It’s like a frog in hot water. You put a frog in water and turn up the heat gradually it will not notice the change in temperature and will eventually perish.
God’s truth slightly altered is not truth at all, and can be deceptive, leading us through years of unnecessary pain and confusion, and away from the life God has promised His beloved children.
Proverbs 14:12
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
With easy access to the internet, believers are bombarded with a plethora of biblical teachings, doctrines, and diverse interpretations of the Word. It may sound right, however the only way to be certain we are not led astray is by rightly dividing the Word and being diligent students ourselves, at the feet of our Father.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Apollos, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, submitted to Priscilla and Aquila as they expounded the Word to him more perfectly.
Acts 18:24-2624 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
If you find yourself repeatedly asking for prayer regarding the same situation, or unable to move forward in a certain area, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal if what you believe is aligning with scripture or you have a spiritual slouch because of doctrines you have adopted from others.
Be ready and willing to change, correct, and realign your life according to His leading.
Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
The above Scripture warns us to be on guard. That still small voice should never be traded for the voice of positive thinking, or the roar of social media the world readily offers. Even if it seems right, hold up every teaching and message to God’s light. The fame of a preacher or the size of a church congregation does not mean it has the Lord’s seal of approval.
I only receive temporary relief when I visit my physiotherapist. Unless I’m willing to work at addressing the root cause by correcting my posture, I will have to keep going back to her.
Study the Word and correct your spiritual stance in every area. The key to living a victorious life in Christ Jesus is in standing firmly rooted in God’s Word and His Word alone. His Word is the final authority in every matter. In His Service,
