Healed by The Word - Testimony
Healed by The Word – Testimony
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
On November 25th last year, I called my family doctor and made an appointment as there seemed to be a lump / swelling on the back of my neck on the left side and it was causing pain and discomfort. When I went for my appointment he said it is an abscess, lanced and cleaned the area. He said it is not necessary to take an antibiotic and prescribed an ointment to help heal the bruising from the lancing. After a few days it healed completely. But then, in December another abscess, (this time I knew what it was because it felt the same) had formed on the other side of my neck at the back and it was much bigger and more painful. All this time I had been praying but there seemed to be no improvement.
December 17th I called my family doctor made another appointment and he lanced it but also prescribed an antibiotic. By December 19th it had not improved at all and I knew though I was taking the antibiotic that it was not healing. The abscess was still there and the antibiotics were over. So I called my family doctor and he said that I will need to go to ER and have it lanced under local anesthesia.
I was upset and annoyed after the phone call especially because this was in the middle of the Christmas season and I decided I was not going to ER. I had heard so many stories from friends where they had gone to ER and waited for 12 to 14 hours with indefinite wait times.
I decided to take up the Sword of the Spirit and fight this with the Word. My living room became a battleground. I was pacing up and down declaring Scripture after scripture over myself. By His stripes I am healed, He sent His Word and healed me, healing is the children’s bread…..!
I spent hours praying in the spirit every day for the next few days. Initially there didn’t seem to be any noticeable improvement, and the pain was still there, and so was the big abscess. It had swelled so much I could not sleep well either. But I refused to go by what I could feel and stayed in prayer. I went to work as usual, continued to do the ministry work, prayed for others too, while fighting this with the Scriptures.
By the 3rd day there was no pain and by the 4th day it was completely gone – just like that. The skin on the back of my neck was completely normal. I was thrilled and excited at the fact that Jesus healed me from this nasty big painful abscess.
Friends, the Word works. God’s word is alive and active sharper than a double edged sword that will cut through sickness and disease to bring healing, health and wholeness. I give all thanks, praise and glory to our loving Saviour, Healer.

Boxed Dreams
7 If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
8 This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.
I stared at the small wooden box marked “DREAMS” in my hands. I was trying to find space in our apartment to store bits and pieces of Christmas décor that we had missed, while packing away our decorations. A hanging tree ornament, a stuffed gingerbread man, lights from a Christmas village set. As I shoved them to the back of a cupboard, my fingers touched the hard wooden box.
My mind drifted back to a church cell group meeting, just after the New Year in 2017. I had suggested we write down our dream for the year and keep it in a box. Each member wrote down their goal and slipped it in, and we sealed it. We laid hands on the box at every prayer meeting thereafter, praying fervently that God would fulfill our dreams.
When Covid reduced our in-person gatherings to zoom meetings, I offered to keep it at my home. And then we forgot. That was 7 years ago.
The following Sunday, I opened the box in their presence and handed out the ‘dream’ slips of paper to each person. Some chuckled, while others laughed out right reading their dreams from 7 years ago. And a few couldn’t even recall writing down their dream.
Over the years, our excitement had waned, our focus shifted, priorities were side swiped by the tyranny of the urgent, and we had stopped praying. Those dreams remained, buried at the back of my cupboard, for 7 years. Almost everyone had to admit they had not reached their goal. My dream was to learn to play the guitar. I was excited until I bought the guitar, then it became a fixture in my living room.
But Why?
- We dreamed.
- We were enthusiastic and started strong.
- We laid hands on the box and prayed.
- But there were no works that followed.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
When our dreams and desires are solely focused on serving others and glorifying the King, it becomes a divine dream. The Lord does not crush our dreams, but rather, is waiting to fulfill it. There are so many impossible dreams that became a reality, because God intervened.
Abraham and Sarah dreamed of a son, but were well beyond their child bearing age. Nehemiah was a cupbearer, but dreamed of building the wall around Jerusalem. Joseph literally had a dream that people would bow down before him. All of these people were met with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and opposition.
Abraham and Sarah were overcome with doubt because of delay, and tried to add human effort to a prophetic utterance. Nehemiah and his men held a sword in one hand and built with the other, to withstand Sanballat and his men, who mocked, discouraged, and threatened them with false accusations. Joseph’s dream looked like it was hijacked by his brothers’ actions, but God turned it around for His glory.
So, what dreams have you buried under careers, responsibilities, family and ministry work? Was there a season you started strong but gave up because of a lack of resources, encouragement from others or the magnitude of the dream made you feel it will never come to fruition?
This month, let’s go back and unearth those goals that have been buried. Bring it to God and pray. Ask Him how it can be used to serve His people and edify the body of Christ.
Anything is possible when we invite the Lord to work through our dreams. It is with Him, in Him, through Him and most importantly for Him, that we can fulfill our dreams.

Ministry at the Senior Home
Even to your old age, I am He,
And even to gray hairs I will carry you!
I have made, and I will bear;
Even I will carry, and will deliver you.
On January 17th we visited the Senior’s Home again. The staff and residents were happy to see us and we sang songs with the residents, clapping and singing along with us. After that we had a time of sharing the Word, prayer and fellowship time. This is our 3rd visit to this Senior Home in Delta, and we are getting to know some of the residents, hear their stories and experiences. Some of the residents have a wonderful sense of humour and we shared some laughs together.
When we step into this facility it seems like we are cut off from the rest of the world. The residents who live there are getting to know us by name and they are looking forward to our next visit later this month.
We invite you to join us in prayer as we go and share the love of Jesus. If you play an instrument and would like to visit one day, please let me know. We are enjoying these visits!
God bless you all!
