October Outreach in Whalley
October 19th, we joined NightShift Ministries (NSM) in Whalley to serve dinner to 110 street friends who mostly live on the streets. From Sound of the Lord Mission, we gave 110 bananas and 110 oranges. NSM had prepared the dinner. After we served the dinner from 7pm – 8pm we prayed together for the prayer requests that we received from our street friends.
When the Lord asked the disciples to feed the multitude He did not tell them “first find out if they believe in Me, ask if they have given their lives to Me and if they say yes, then feed them”. He did not say that. What is recorded in Scripture is:
Matthew 14:14-16
14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”
16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
Everyone who lives on the streets has a life story to tell, some in despair, some with no hope with whom we can share the love of Jesus. May we be moved with the same compassion that Jesus had for people and be willing to help them.
We appreciate and pray for our ministry newsletter community. Please feel free to give feedback and comments. I have shared one picture below of Cris and myself gifting the fruit. The dinner, fruit, coffee and cookies was served outside.
Thank you for sending us into the mission fields. We are serving presently in the cities that most of our team live in. Please pray with us that our team will grow so we can reach other areas as the Lord leads.
With joy,

The First Encounter
“Snooooowww”.
That long drawn out word, yelled collectively at the top of their lungs with such excitement and velocity can only bring one image to mind. A bunch of kids with a snow shovel and a snowman on their minds.
But it was the opposite. We were visiting my in-laws with our friends who were our house guests from Sri Lanka. And it was they who suddenly screamed out, when it began to snow. All politeness, civility and courteousness went out the window as they dashed outside. I saw one of them stick out their tongue to taste a snowflake!
It was the first time they were experiencing snow. Coming from a tropical country, the closest thing to snow they’ve touched was on Christmas cards or the frost inside the freezer.
I was reminded of this recently, and I pondered how they had forgotten their place, their age, their surroundings and simply acted like kids, lost in the joy of the moment, uncaring of who was watching.
I reflected on my experience when I accepted the Lord – that first encounter with Him. Though I didn’t run outside the church, I was awestruck and filled with wonder and a sense of freedom. Why don’t I experience that joy and freedom each time I go into the presence of the King anymore? Are my burdens so heavy that I forget before Whom I am standing? Am I cultivating a lifestyle in my walk with the Lord where familiarity has replaced fire?
Why hadn’t I run out the door with them when it started snowing? Because I have seen it before, many times, there was no novelty in it. Yet every year when it snows, my teenagers still press their noses against the window, breath misting the glass as they gaze outside at the wonder and beauty of a white blanket in a million pieces descending on the earth from heaven.
I believe that’s why the Lord asked us to be like children, not only in believing the Word in simple faith but in the way we approach Him, like that first encounter, filled with excitement, joy, praise and gladness.
2 Samuel 6:14
And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
Here was a king who was lost in the moment, pure joy and praise made him dance with all his might before his Creator.
May we never forget the joy of that first encounter and be as little children that show forth our praise, because He alone is worthy!.
