Surrey - Missionary Work in June
On Saturday, June 5th we did an outreach to Phoenix Society. This month they are opening a new 40 bed facility located on King George and 80th in Surrey to assist more people to go through rehab and get back their lives!
Through the generosity of many people connected to Sound of the Lord Mission we were able to provide the following items to make up 40 hampers for the first 40 people who will be enrolled in their 90 day rehab program.
- 40 adult colouring books (colouring is therapeutic and will be helpful)
- 40 packs of pencil colours
- 40 toothpaste tubes
- 40 toothbrushes
- 40 individual juice packs
- 40 jigsaw puzzles
- 40 bottles of vitamin C
- 40 mini first aid kits
- 40 hand sanitizer 500ml bottles
- 40 crossword puzzle books
- 48 individually wrapped cookies (48 in one box)
- 128 individually wrapped chewy bars (2 boxes)
Grateful thanks to everyone who made this possible. I decree a 100 fold blessing on you, blessings you have not even thought of, suddenly, unexpectedly, lavish and abundant like a waterfall, may it flow into your life.
Deuteronomy 15: 7 – 11
7 “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. 9 Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you. 10 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. 11 For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’
It is a privilege for all of us to partner with the Lord in reaching out to people who are committed to coming out of unwise choices they have made and the inevitable consequences of those choices. We will cheer them on in prayer as well! What a joy to know that we played a small part in helping people to get back on their feet. Hallelujah, all thanks and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Garlic & Onions!
Really? That’s the title of this message? Garlic & Onions? Yes, the Scriptures do talk about garlic and onions 🙂 Keep reading and be blessed!
Have you lost sight of your vision and where you are heading?
After wandering in the desert for many years without sight of their promised land, the Israelites were tired, hungry, and ready to stone Moses.
Numbers 11:5
We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:
Exodus 16:2 & 3
Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. 3 And the children of Israel said to them, “Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
Reading about these events we marvel that the Israelites would trade the promises of God and freedom, to living in slavery and bondage from generation to generation with no hope of deliverance, but that is exactly what they wanted.
They forgot the signs and wonders done by the Lord, the 10 plagues, being fed with Manna, the parting of the Red Sea…and many more. Along the way, somewhere, they lost sight of the Promise. A land flowing with milk and honey. Their flesh demanded a quick solution to their immediate problem of hunger and thirst.
Though we may not be literally wandering about in the wilderness, there are times we unconsciously think, act and speak just like the Israelites. We become discouraged, impatient, lost, and feel distant from the Lord.
The promises of God seem like a vapor that slips through the fingers, a mirage that keeps moving further away. Our mind takes us back to the past and we long to go back to familiar territory. We begin to believe that anything is better than what we are facing today.
But there is a purpose for the situations and circumstances in your life right now. However confusing, meaningless and void of joy it may seem, the Lord is urging you onwards and upwards. You cannot enter into deeper intimacy with the Lord until the old mindset is buried with the past.
Are you willing to endure for a season so you can reap the blessings of the Lord for the rest of your life? He is chiseling you into a vessel worthy to glorify Him because He loves you.
Don’t allow your mind to entice you with the taste of garlic and onions from the past. God has a bigger plan for your life. Ask the Lord in prayer and He will lead, guide and direct your steps into HIS plan for your life. Take a step of faith, be obedient, and enjoy the adventurous journey of life with Jesus.
