United We Score
United We Score
Working as a Rental Custodian at a school gym, I am amused sometimes to hear excited yells and shouts from adult basketball players when their team scores a point. Cheering, back slapping, and encouraging words are shared among the players as they celebrate the win. They play the game watching out for each other, understanding the strengths of their teammates, covering their weak areas, giving it their all, knowing that when one scores a point, it’s a win for the whole team.
Paul urges the Corinthian church that we should work as labourers together with God.
1 Corinthians 3:9
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
I wonder how the body of Christ would look like today if we cultivate this same team spirit and work with a passion to ‘score’ for the Lord together.
Our team is our brothers and sisters in Christ and they may not all be from our local church. We are all part of a bigger team, each one unique, and vital to form a whole, working together in unison towards the common goal of winning souls for Christ.
But what would happen to a basketball team and their game plan if one player suddenly decides he wants to score all the points? A team can never win even if one player adopts this way of thinking and it will bring division and discord.
Ecclesiastes 4:4
And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
When we believe we can work alone in God’s kingdom, we draw an unseen boundary line between ourselves and others. The subtle plan of the enemy is not to stop our church programs, disrupt our Sunday services or disturb our bible studies. His sole aim is to bring division, disharmony, discord and discontent among us.
We cannot build or work alone as we go about our Father’s business.
Jesus said even the devil’s kingdom cannot stand divided.
Mark 3:24-26
24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
The Lord is calling all of us to stand firm, but together. There is strength in unity. As we work for the kingdom, let’s fulfil the role that God has assigned to us with zeal, while encouraging others toiling beside us. May we also keep in mind that we all have one Master.
Ecclesiastes 4:12
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Our Life Coach has chosen each player and placed us where He wants us to be, to live and thrive in His Kingdom.

Join Us for a Mega Outreach on July 1, 2025
We are planning & working to have a booth at the Steveston Salmon Festival again this year on July 1st. We also celebrate our 5th ministry anniversary this year. What an adventurous journey these past 5 years have been! Praise the Lord, hallelujah!
We invite you to join us as we work on getting ready for this outreach. Thousands of people attend the Steveston Salmon Festival and it is an open door for us to share the Gospel, to be there and be a witness for the Lord.
Matthew 4:19
Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Let’s follow the Lord and go catch fish!
We would be very thankful and grateful if you could:
– Pray for this outreach.
– Donate tracts, Gospels, Bibles, Children’s books, (English, Mandarin, Arabic and Tagalog).
– Donate through etransfer soundofthelordmission@gmail.com or online through our website to cover the costs associated with having a booth at this event. We need to have insurance which is required by the festival organisers, pay an application fee and there are other miscellaneous costs. We thank God for all our donors for sending us out into the harvest fields.
– Help with setup on June 30th afternoon. The organisers schedule a time for us to go in and set up and we will know the exact time only a week or so before July 1st. Helping at the booth on July 1st will require mandatory attendance at a zoom meeting which I will schedule closer to the date, as we need to follow all the rules set by the organisers of the Salmon Festival.
– If you have any suggestions, please contact me. We would love to hear from you and receive ideas and advice. Thank you!
